Silva (João Moniz da)
João Moniz da Silva was nominated bishop of Funchal in 1689 but declined the mitre, so he is not counted among the diocese's prelates.
On the death of Dom Estêvão Brioso de Figueiredo, prelate of this diocese, the cleric João Moniz da Silva was presented as bishop of Funchal in 1689. He did not accept the mitre and was never confirmed, so his name is not included in the catalogue of the prelates of Funchal. Friar José de Santa Maria was appointed bishop in his place.
