He was later transferred to the see of Porto, where he died in 1708.

2Chronology

  1. King Pedro II nominated Fr. José de Santa Maria bishop of Funchal. Pope Alexander VIII confirmed the appointment on 6 March 1690, and he was consecrated by Cardinal de Lencastre on 25 November 1690.
