This is an inhabited locality (sítio) in the parish (freguesia) of Água de Pena, in the municipality (concelho) of Machico. Here, in 1924, Francisco de Freitas Correia had a chapel built dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro, the first of this dedication to be built in Madeira.
