Portuguese violist of Funchal's theatre who became a noted composer of sacred music in Madeira.

He was a native of Portugal, but lived for many years in this city, having come here as violist of the Teatro Grande do Funchal, which the governor Dom Álvaro de Sousa de Macedo ordered to be demolished in 1832.
