Olivine

Olivine, a magnesium-iron silicate found as small yellowish-green crystals in Madeira's basalts.

A silicate of magnesium and iron; orthorhombic system. It occurs in the basalts of Madeira as grains and small irregular crystals, yellowish green in colour, transparent and with a vitreous lustre.
