An inhabited locality in the parish of Caniço (‘reed’), with 68 households and 368 inhabitants. The ruins of a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Salvação (Our Lady of Salvation), founded in 1614 by Francisco Morais de Aguiar, still stand here.
