Notes the elaborate mourning ceremonies held in Funchal in 1816 for the death of Queen Maria I of Portugal, recorded in a pamphlet printed in Lisbon.
The expressions of grief at the death of Queen Maria I of Portugal were marked by great pomp. An interesting pamphlet on the subject was published in Lisbon under the title Relação do que se praticou na Cidade do Funchal, da ilha da Madeira, no dia 17 de Dezembro de 1816, em que a Câmara fez celebrar as funebres ceremonias da Fracção dos Escudos e Reais Exequias pela alma da Serenissima Rainha D. Maria I.
