Grain weevil

Original title: Gorgulho

The grain weevils Sitophilus granarius and S. oryzae, pests of stored grain and flour throughout Madeira.

The name gorgulho is applied to Sitophilus granarius and S. Orizae, species of beetles that attack grain and flour and are frequent in houses and storehouses throughout the island. The second species, which seems to be commoner than the first, is easily distinguished by its darker colour.
