Garoupa (Serranus cabrilla)

The comb grouper (Serranus cabrilla), a common and highly prized fish of Madeira's rocky shallows.

A fish of the family Percidae that lives on shallow rocky bottoms from the coast out to a little beyond 100 braças. The briqueira (a Madeiran hand line for bottom fishing) is the tackle generally used to catch it.

Besides being common, the garoupa is one of the finest fish in the seas of Madeira.
