Canon Henrique Calaça de Viveiros founded the Convent of the Incarnation in Funchal in fulfilment of a vow for Portugal's liberation from Spanish rule; he died in 1662.
He founded the Convento da Encarnação (Convent of the Incarnation) in fulfilment of a vow he had made that Portugal would be freed from the Castilian yoke.
He died aged 73 on 25 May 1662. The seminary library held a life-size portrait of Canon Calaça.
