Boca dos Namorados

A famous viewpoint near Pico dos Bodes above Jardim da Serra, Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, once much visited.

Map: Madeira (4)

In the uplands of the parish (freguesia) of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos (‘the narrows of Câmara de Lobos’), overlooking the pleasant locality (sítio) of Jardim da Serra (‘upland garden’), stands Pico dos Bodes (‘billy-goats’ peak’). Close by is the Boca dos Namorados (‘lovers’ pass’), one of the places in Madeira that command the finest and most extensive panoramas. The spot became very well known because in former times it was much visited by Portuguese and foreigners alike.
