Bertrand (Arthur)

French author Arthur Bertrand, whose 1841 book on the 1840 expedition to retrieve Napoleon's remains from Saint Helena devotes eight pages to its call at Madeira.

In 1841 he published in Paris a book entitled Lettres sur l'expedition de Sainte Hélène, which deals with the expedition commanded by the Prince of Joinville that went to the island of St Helena in 1840 to bring the mortal remains of Napoleon back to Europe. He devotes eight pages to the expedition’s call at Madeira in July 1840.
