Dona Beatriz, widow of Infante D. Fernando, governed the Madeira archipelago during the minority of her son D. Diogo.
She was married to the Infante Ferdinand, brother of Afonso V, and after being widowed she governed the Madeira archipelago for as long as the minority of her son Diogo, Duke of Viseu, Grand Master of the Order of Christ (Ordem de Cristo), lasted.
