A charity founded in 1889 by Civil Governor D. João de Alarcão Velasques Osório to distribute food to the poor and sick.

It was founded in 1889 on the initiative of the then Civil Governor, Dom João de Alarcão Velasques Osório, and its chief purpose is to distribute food to the poor and the sick. The association’s statutes were approved by the same governor by royal decree (alvará) of 2 May 1880.
