Aguiar (Pedro Afonso)
Soldier and mariner of the Aguiar family who captained a ship to India and fought heroically at Azamor.
He was the son of Diogo Afonso de Aguiar and the brother of Rui de Aguiar. He distinguished himself greatly as a soldier and seaman. He went to India as captain of a carrack and was present at the taking of Gran Canaria. He accompanied Jaime, Duke of Braganza, on the expedition to Azemmour, where he showed great heroism.
