Santarém is a town in Portugal. It was the birthplace of Bishop D. Jerónimo Fernando, D. Fr. Gaspar do Casal and Bishop D. Fernando de Távora, and the home of Zargo's maternal grandfather. Maximiliano Eugénio de Azevedo served there as a second lieutenant, and D. João Frederico da Câmara Leme was transferred to its civil governorship but declined it.
