Madeiran craftsman and industrialist (1792–1856) who built a steam still in 1822 and founded in 1828 the first sugar factory in Madeira since the industry's collapse. He was persecuted as a liberal under Miguel, made the silver constitutional monument medal and was the first president of the general assembly of the Banco Commercial da Madeira.
