D. Mariana de Vasconcelos e Câmara Alencastre, heiress of the Calheta countship, was donatary of Funchal in 1666 and bore the titles of Marchioness and Countess of Castelo Melhor and of Vila Nova da Calheta. Through her marriage to João Rodrigues de Vasconcelos, 2nd Count of Castelo Melhor, the captaincy passed to that house, and she is counted as 9th donatary of Funchal.
