Marceliano Ribeiro de Mendonça (1805–1866) was a self-taught Funchal teacher, philosopher and Latinist who became rector of the Liceu do Funchal from 1850. He was the first champion of popular primary education in Madeira and the author of a Latin grammar and of the historical novel Gaspar Borges.
