Madeiran priest, vicar of Santa Cruz, lawyer and polemical liberal journalist who edited and owned Madeira's second newspaper, O Pregador Imparcial (1823–24), known for its violent style. He was publicly flogged at the Funchal pillory in 1822 and deported for political crimes in 1823.
