Funchal municipal clerk, journalist and poet, nephew of the poet Francisco Álvares de Nóbrega, whose Rimas he reprinted in Funchal in 1850. He wrote an account of the Empress of Brazil's visit to Madeira and destroyed his collected poems shortly before his probable suicide.
