Funchal-born physician, sanitary inspector and bank treasurer, best remembered as a gifted satirical poet and journalist who often wrote as 'Faustino Brasão'. He co-wrote A Guyaneida, edited the Diário de Notícias and was twice interim professor at the Escola Médico-Cirúrgica.
