Portuguese statesman and diplomat, son of Lourenço Vaz Pereira da Gama, who took a doctorate in law at Coimbra and married a Madeiran heiress of the Herédia family. He was created Count of Porto Santo in 1823; the title had no successors and his house passed to Francisco Correia Herédia.
