Madeiran law graduate of Coimbra who represented Madeira in parliament from 1858 to 1869 and died in Funchal in 1906. He rebuilt the chapels of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré at Arco da Calheta and Paredes in 1830 and helped rebuild the Ribeira da Janela parish church.
