Casa dos Vinte e Quatro

This was the name of an association composed of delegates from the mechanical trades, presided over by the people's judge.

On January 21, 1812, a royal letter was addressed to the judge, aldermen, and other officials of the City Council of Funchal, ordering "that until the construction of a new building with the necessary accommodations, the Council should facilitate the use of the council chamber to the corporation of the Casa dos Vinte e Quatro".

The Casa dos Vinte e Quatro elected the people's judge, as well as the four tradesmen who were part of the senate. It was abolished by the decree of May 7, 1834.
