Feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris)

A leguminous plant widely cultivated in Madeiran gardens. It is believed to be native to America.

The bush or creeping bean is a simple form of the common bean. The green bean, known as 'vaginha', is an export item from Madeira; before the war, about 1800 to 2000 baskets of 'vaginha' were exported from the island weekly during the peak production season.
