Crista de galo (Amarantus caudalus)
A plant of the Amaranthaceae family, cultivated in the gardens of Funchal and subspontaneous in Camara de Lobos and other locations. It is native to tropical Africa and America, and has scarlet and pendant spikes, with a very long terminal. Sometimes the Amarantus paniculatus and Celosia cristata are also called cresta de galo.
