Chasellas

Description of Chasellas, a recently introduced table grape grown only near Funchal, valued for size rather than flavour; synonym of uva franceza.

Leaves large, broad, glabrous, except on the veins of the lower surface, where they are slightly pubescent; lobes shallow, usually pointed; teeth very irregular, deep, usually acute; petiolar sinus more or less open; bunch compact, with very large, firm, elliptical-globose berries, almost red, greenish at the base. – It produces table grapes that are recommended more for their size than for their flavour, which is somewhat insipid. It is a grape variety of recent introduction, grown only around Funchal. It is a synonym of uva franceza.
