Brambles
Original title: Silvados
Brambles of the genus Rubus, chiefly R. ulmifolius, whose blackberries are edible and whose shoots are used in gargles.
Species of the genus Rubus, the commonest of which is R. Ulmifolius, Schott. The fruits of this Rubus, known as amoras de silva (blackberries), are edible and have a pleasant taste, but in large quantities they can cause colic. A decoction of the tender shoots and leaves of the bramble is used in gargles for diseases of the throat.
