A small beach on the coast of Caniçal parish, notable as the only sandy beach on Madeira, all others being made of rounded pebbles. It lies at the head of a picturesque cove popular with summer visitors from Machico.

A small beach on the coast of the parish (freguesia) of Caniçal (‘reed bed’). It stands apart from all the other beaches of Madeira because it is formed of sand, whereas all the others are made of rounded pebbles. It lies at the head of a picturesque cove, much visited by summer holidaymakers from the town (vila) of Machico.
