João Pestana Júnior, young poet from Ponta do Pargo who died in 1918 while a Coimbra law student, author of Névoas de Lágrimas.
He was the son of João Pestana and was born in the parish (freguesia) of Ponta do Pargo (‘sea bream point’) in the last years of the 19th century. He was studying in the faculty of law of the University of Coimbra (Universidade de Coimbra) when death struck him prematurely on 21 October 1918. He contributed to several newspapers of this city, notably the Diário da Madeira. His first verses revealed a promising and decided vocation for poetry. He published in Coimbra a volume of verse entitled Nevoas de Lagrimas.
