The remora, a fish rare in Madeiran waters that attaches itself to sharks, turtles and ships by a dorsal sucking disc.
A scombrid fish, rare in our seas. On its back it bears a broad disc crossed by transverse plates, which works as a sucker and allows it to attach itself to the bellies of sharks, to turtles, to the sides of ships, etc. It is also known as chupa-sangue.
