Madeiran Choral Society

Original title: Orfeão Madeirense

The Orfeão Madeirense was a Madeiran choral society that first performed publicly in July 1921 under the direction of Dr Manuel dos Passos Freitas. It toured the Canary Islands in May 1922 to great acclaim.

It first appeared in public at the Teatro Dr. Manuel de Arriaga on 7 and 8 July 1921. Its conductor is the distinguished musician and lawyer Dr Manuel dos Passos Freitas (1921).

It visited the Canary Islands in May 1922, where it was warmly applauded.
