Spanish Jesuit lichenologist who studied lichens sent to him from Madeira and published a synopsis of 203 species of Madeiran lichens in the journal Brotéria (1910–1913).
A distinguished Spanish lichenologist and member of the Society of Jesus, he studied the lichens sent to him from this island by Father Jaime de Gouveia Barreto and by one of the authors of this Elucidário. His published work, entitled Sinopsis de los Liquenes de las islas de Madera (Broteria, vols. IX to XI, 1910–1913), lists 203 species, some of which are mentioned only in the works of other lichenologists. See Lichens.
