Short entry on the French imperial prince Eugène Louis Napoléon, who called at Funchal on 4 March 1879 on his way to the Cape and later died in the Anglo-Zulu War in South Africa.

This prince, who died in South Africa in the war that the English waged against the Zulus, was in Funchal on 4 March 1879, having landed from the English steamer Danube, which was bound for the Cape of Good Hope. See Eugénie (Empress).
