Entry on the lentil (Lens culinaris), a legume often grown on Porto Santo and also found at Caniçal; it distinguishes it from the 'lentil' grown at Caniço, which is Vicia monanthos.
A papilionaceous legume often cultivated on Porto Santo (‘holy harbour’) and also found at Caniçal (‘reed bed’). The lentil cultivated at Caniço (‘reed’) is Vicia monanthos, which has 3–4-seeded pods, not 2-seeded pods as in the Porto Santo lentil.
