Jardim (Lino Cassiano)
Lino Cassiano Jardim, physician from Santana trained at the Funchal Medical School, who qualified to practise in Brazil with a thesis on bilious fever (1871).
He was born in the parish (freguesia) of Santana (‘St Anne’) and qualified as a physician and surgeon at the Medical School of this city. To be able to practise medicine freely in Brazil, he defended a thesis before the faculty of medicine of Rio de Janeiro, publishing his dissertation under the title Da Febre Biliosa. . ., Rio de Janeiro, 1871.
