- Funchal Cathedral (the Sé)
Funchal. Cathedral of which he became canon.
The Sé do Funchal is the cathedral of Funchal, in the parish of Sé. It was begun in 1493, became a parish seat in 1508 and a cathedral in 1514. It was the starting point of processions and the place of the vow to São Tiago, and bishops are buried there.
- Porto Moniz
His birthplace.
North-western parish and municipality with a quay and a tolerable port that serves as a good landing when southerly winds close the south coast. It has one of the oldest Magdalene chapels in northern Madeira, whose feast falls on 22 July. It was the birthplace of Dr Manuel Gomes Jardim.
- Rome
Italy. Where he studied at the Gregorian University.
Rome, seat of the Holy See, appears in the Elucidário chiefly through Madeirans and others connected with it. Padre Manuel Constantino taught, published and died there, and Dr Patrício Moniz took a doctorate in theology and was ordained there. Padre Luiz Gonçalves da Câmara was superior of the Jesuit professed house there, and Simão Gonçalves da Câmara's gift was presented to the pope there; other entries record an embassy post, the Vatican Council and beatification processes.
- Seminary of the Incarnation
Funchal. Seminary building whose return to the Church he defended.
The Seminário da Encarnação is a seminary building in Funchal. The minor seminary, formerly housed at the Convento de São Bernardino, was merged into it. The building later housed the Escola de Utilidades e Belas Artes and then the offices of the Junta Geral, and Dr. Manuel Gomes Jardim argued for its return to the Church.
