Henry (Paul)

Paul Henry was a French naval officer who visited Madeira in 1895–97 and was killed in Peking in 1900; René Bazin wrote of his stay.

An officer of the French navy, killed in Beijing on 30 July 1900, when the allied armies entered the city. He was in Madeira in October 1895, aboard the ship Iphigénie, and in October 1896 and June 1897 aboard the Melpomène.

R. Bazin writes about this officer’s stay in Madeira in his book entitled L'enseigne de vaisseau Paul Henry.
