Phenology

Original title: Fenologia

Phenology in Madeira, studied by Dr Heer in 1851 and by Carlos A. de Meneses from 1903 to 1912, with references to Meneses's publications.

Phenology

Madeiran phenology was studied by Dr Oswald Heer in 1851 and by C. A. Meneses from 1903 to 1912. See the articles published by the latter in the Boletim da Sociedade de Geografia de Lisboa of 1910 and in the Bolletin de l'Académie Internationale de Geographie Botanique of 1905, 1908 and 1912. Besides much useful information, they contain the list of works to be consulted by anyone wishing to know the times of leaf discoloration and leafing of some woody species cultivated on the island.

Carlos A. de Meneses published a series of articles on this subject in the Diário da Madeira (‘Madeira Daily’) in June 1910.
