A three-volume collection (1849–1852) of the main documents of José Silvestre Ribeiro's administration as civil governor of Funchal district from 1846 to 1852, a valuable source for Madeiran history.

This is a valuable collection of the principal documents relating to the exemplary administration of Councillor (conselheiro, honorary title of the royal council) José Silvestre Ribeiro as civil governor of the district of Funchal in the period from 1846 to 1852. It consists of three volumes of 636, 659 and 706 pages, published in 1849, 1850 and 1852, which can still be read with appreciation today and consulted with great profit for the history of Madeira, especially of that period.

Moreover, they offer a lofty lesson and the most wholesome example to all who wish to conduct themselves wisely in the administration of public affairs.
