Corals

Original title: Corais

Describes the corals found in Madeiran waters, namely red, black and white coral, and the museums where Madeiran specimens are held.

Coral, or coral tree, is the name by which various zoophytes of the seas of Madeira are known. Among them we shall mention Dendrophyllea ramea, or red coral, Acanthagorgia Grayi, or black coral, and Hemicorallium Johnsoni, or white coral.

Madeiran corals are well represented in the British Museum, the Liverpool Museum and the Museum of the Funchal Seminary.
