Coquinho

Coquinho is the Madeiran common name for two sedges, Cyperus rotundus and C. esculentus, which are very common on the island and bear small edible underground tubers.

Common name of Cyperus rotundus and C. esculentus, plants of the family Cyperaceae, very common in Madeira. These plants produce small underground tubers, which can be eaten without ill effect.
