The Viticulture Commission, created by the law of 1908 and installed in 1909, supervised the production of Madeira fortified wine and compiled statistics.
It held its inaugural session on 6 September 1909. It supervises the production of Madeira fortified wine, compiles statistics, etc. It was created by article 31 of the Law of 18 September 1908 and reorganised by the Decree of 1 October of the same year. The first wine regulations for Madeira date from 11 March 1909.
