Chumbada
Explains the chumbada, the lead weight or set of weights used to sink fishing lines and nets in Madeira.
A lead weight attached to the lower part of the fishing rigs known as the briqueira (a Madeiran hand line for bottom fishing) and the gorazeira (deep-water longline for sea bream), serving to sink them. It also denotes the set of weights of the same metal fitted to the foot rope of trawl nets or set nets, and to that of the net called the cast net (tarrafa).
