Câmara (João Gonçalves da)
João Gonçalves da Câmara, 4th Count of Calheta, was the eighth captain-donatary of Funchal. His possession of the captaincy was confirmed in 1623.
He was born in Portugal, the son of Simão Gonçalves da Câmara (see that entry), 3rd Count of Calheta (‘small cove’), and of Dona Maria de Vasconcelos. João Gonçalves da Câmara was the 4th Count of Calheta and is regarded as the 8th captain-donatary (capitão-donatário) of Funchal. His possession of the captaincy was confirmed on 29 July 1623.
