Buxo da Rocha
Buxo da Rocha is the Madeiran vernacular name for two native shrubs, Catha dryandri and Chamaemeles coriacea.
Madeirans give this name to Catha dryandri, a shrub of the family Celastraceae, and to Chamaemeles coriacea, a shrub of the family Rosaceae. The first is found at São Gonçalo, at Seixal (‘pebble shore’), etc.; the second near the Câmara Pestana Asylum (Manicómio Câmara Pestana), at Praia Formosa (‘beautiful beach’), etc.
