Artemija
Madeiran name for feverfew (Chrysanthemum parthenium), also called alfinetes de senhora, a bitter aromatic medicinal herb.
The common Madeiran name for Chrysanthemum parthenium, a perennial plant of the family Compositae. It is easily recognised by its pinnatisect leaves, with more or less deeply cut segments, and by its medium-sized flower heads, in which the florets are all tubular or the outer ones ligulate. The artemija (a corruption of artemisia) is also known as alfinetes de senhora; it has a strong, penetrating smell and a bitter taste. The flowering tops are stimulant, tonic, emmenagogue and diuretic.
