English physician who in 1802 obtained permission from the governor and captain-general to vaccinate 4 to 6 foundlings every week; for this purpose they were to be brought to his house. He was, it seems, the first physician to apply vaccination in Madeira. Works: A Guide to Madeira with an account of the Climate (London 1901).
