Building in Funchal, Madeira
The Colégio de São João Evangelista was the Jesuit college and church in Funchal, to which the Jesuits moved from São Bartolomeu. It held the first public secondary classes and later housed the diocesan seminary and the lyceum; the first cholera cases appeared among soldiers quartered there, and it marked where canopy bearers changed in the Corpus Christi procession.
